I would like to know what remedies have helped others that have or have had dry mouth. thank you. Cheryl
My gut instinct is not to look for medication to fix this, but simply to drink cold, filtered water at regular intervals.
I have been doing this, and it does seem to help. Nearly everything I put in my mouth burns so I don’t care about eating. Maybe you would know of some foods that would not burn and taste ok. Thanks. Cheryl
Hi there! I probably couldn’t advise on foods, but because of my health situation, I’ve had to look closely at the whole water thing. There was a book by a man called Dr Batmanghedi (I think that is how you spell it). In his book he says “you’re not sick, you’re thirsty). He believes that hydration is a huge part of the cure for most diseases. Maybe its worth having a quick look at the book?
Thanks, and I will try to get the book.
are you taking any medications at the moment?
I saw a throat specialist this week. He pointed out the medicines that can cause dry mouth so I am trying to eliminate as many as I can. I tried to get some sugar free candy today after church, but didn’t find what I thought I might like. Thanks. Cheryl
i read your other post… you mention something about burning in your mouth..
You should make an appointment with your doctor. I found this site with some information that might interest you.
Thanks. I just read the link you sent. I am trying to see a specialist in Hot Springs. I found out today a friend of mine as this and take a prescription pill that keeps it under control. Hope this will work. thanks.
it could be related to adverse effect of certain medications… (hard candy will help), but if this is the case contact your physician.
I have Sjogren’e Syndrome of which dry mouth is a main symptom I have used Biotene gum which helps and there are other products OTC by this name, even a mouthwash.
Thanks. I have been able to get the gum. Can you tell me if this is something that lasts the rest of one’s life or does it go away if you drink lots of water and eliminate medications that may be causing it? Thank you. Cheryl
Sorry, Cheryl, just getting back to reply. I hope your doctor can help you. I do not know what your diagnoses are and therefore, I cannot answer your question. I know that having Sjogren’s Syndrome, my body is chronically dry inside out. And I do think there is somehing to what others are saying about drinking water. I do not like water and have a hard time drinking it; but I think we both might need to work on that. What do you think?
