Down in the dumps again – challenges with adult children

Posted by kdo0827 @kdo0827, Dec 27, 2018

Hi everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I started taking Cymbalta and got off the other stuff. I was doing better but the past 2 months or so not so good. I’m struggling with feeling invisible and I’m feeling very unappreciated. I feel my kids only call when they want something or have a problem. They never ask how I’m feeling nor do they try and help. I had a procedure done yesterday and neither one bothered to check on me. Adding this to my depression isn’t good. Do any of you have these same feelings about your kids? What should I do?

@lioness Boy, did I learn that lesson early on! Both my husband and son were army officers and we were told to Never call them at work, no matter what! Never did.

Same here-my husband was in the Air Force and I never called him at work and still don’t unless it’s a true emergency.

I’m really struggling!!! I have no energy, appetite and absolutely no desire to do anything or go anywhere it’s the worst I’ve ever been. I feel numb inside almost dead inside. I just feel so awful. I started taking my Cymbalta at night to possibly help with my daytime tiredness but it hasn’t helped. Now I’m wondering if it’s the Cymbalta. Do y’all think so?

@kdo827- Do you take other meds for depression or anxiety? How long have you been taking Cymbalta?

No I don’t. I take Methadone for pain. I’m really struggling and I’m suspecting it may be Cymbalta.

@lioness So much for an excuse for short-term memory. They made me downright mean!! I think I am just dingy at times. Have gotten back into some Tai Chi. Missing y’all. Need to catch up.

say I need hearing aids, say what, sonny? Never been late being called for supper though. sometimes, just don't want to do something. no reason, just exercising management perogative to not do something. makes me still feeling in control of life and that feels good at age 71.

Yes, I'm a big believer in the gentle, graceful movements of Tai-Chi. I'm sure you will enjoy it, @lioness.

good beer does the same. come to think of it, even a bad beer does the same without the work. do it naked, now, that would be interesting.
