Donation after cardiac death

Posted by birdienanie @birdienanie, Apr 29, 2020

I am listed at the Mayo Clinic PHOENIX location. I have polycystic kidney and liver. So far I have had 8 false alarms for transplant- all DCD (donation after cardiac death) organs. My MELD is 23. When the Covid virus precautions began, my transplant center stopped directed kidney transplants, but liver transplants continued. I have not been called for 2 months now. Has anyone else had this experience?

@birdienanie, I can understand your concern. The stress of waiting and the deafening silence are nearly unbearable in the best of times. Why don't you call them? They might have some comforting or reassuring words for you. If nothing else, you might sleep betterknowing that you made contact.

I had a simultaneous liver and kidney transplant in 2009 for PSC. And the wait is complicated because both organs have to be healthy and approveed for transplant.
How are you feeling? What kind of monitoring is being done as you wait for your call?
Hugs.
