Yes, and I know how painful it is. I’ve had it so bad before starting om med therapy, I could barely get out of bed. I’ve been on my meds and gone through therapy for a year, but the season is back and its starting all over again
My health isn’t what it use to be. I have called off work a lot the past month.
I too have Seasonal Affective Disorder. Figuring that out helped a bit by itself. My health insurance will pay for a lamp that wakes you up in the morning by slowly getting brighter, much like sunrise. Mine is due to arrive soon and according to my research, it has very high success rate. Both of you–go get a prescription from your doc for a lamp. Ask for the “alarm” style. The other kind is either on or off and you have to schedule time to sit under it every day. I prefer to get my time in while sleeping!

Yes, I do and it actually affects me physically with migraines, nausea, stomach reflux and other symptoms. You are certainly not alone. I try to get outside as much as I can in the winter. I have a 12 year old daughter so we snow sled and ice skate. When I don’t feel good, all I want to do is lay down. For me, it is a form of hibernation. How about you?

I have a lamp but yours sounds better. I let “the sun shine” in the morning while watching the news. The internet allows so much information and have found it very helpful to read about meds and different approaches. We should never give up and continue to have faith. I go to a chiropractor who administers acupuncture which seems to help me.
Wow, more people are affected by this than I thought. I get SAD too in the winter months but have found that making a schedule for exercise (and sticking to it) really helps me alot. Riding my bike in the sunshine and taking vitamins works well for me also. I agree that the more you can be outside during the daytime, the better. Also, I was once told to “treat” myself daily to at least one thing I really like. For instance, if it just my chai tea/chocolate latte in the afternoon or a piece of really good Swiss dark chocolate, it works for me. As long as I’m exercising too I can do that. I bake chocolate chip cookies and decadent chocolate cakes too. The oven warms up the kitchen, the aroma fills the house and we get to have dessert after dinner. 🙂

I get depressed more so during the winter and through the holidays and heard alot of people do too
I think you’re right, I live with a man that is already getting depressed about the holidays and it is only October.
Best thing you can do is get out of the house and do something, anything. Also try to be around people weather it be friends of family or some social group or group of people who have the same hobbie. I found a site called meetup.com its great for finding things to do and groups of people to get together with.
Get a full spectrum light and sit under or near it for several hours during the day to help produce more serotonium
Thank you all very much for your replies. My dad has a vitamin D lamp and he gave it to me to use. I am doing a little better now, but I hate how early it gets dark! Hope you all are doing well too

I wish it was just seasonal but its all year. I do notice that shorter days make me gloomy but I do the light therapy and its helpful. The lights are sold online. Well depending on where you live spring should be around the corner and with the change in season hopefully you’ll feel better.

I too suffer terribly with SAD. I am a mess in the summer, which is called SAD in reverse Summer Variant. Then come the winter I’m a mess again. Spring is ok and Fall is ok. So where the hell should we move to? I live on the Northern East Coast. I guess I’m just chronically depressed. however, I do feel energized by thunder storms. Go figure??
