@pranny Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Typically, with an eGFR of 72, that would indeed be considered Stage 2.

With the history of pylonephritis, what has your medical team advised you to help not have a repeated infection, as that can be quite serious! Also, you mention kidney stones. Have you had procedures to get rid of those? Have they been examined to see what they are made of, in order to adjust your diet? From the National Kidney Foundation, here is what they say about the types of kidney stones https://www.kidney.org/kidney-topics/kidney-stones.

@gingerw at this present time I'm not seeing a Nephrologist only Urologist no one has advised me on what to do to avoid recurrent infections I've had the stones removed twice and currently waiting on date to have stones removed again no Dr has actually told me I have stage 2 ckd although I have all the symptoms never been told what the stones are made of or advised what type of diet I should follow only to drink more water I'm sure it's time for me to seek a Nephrologist to help with the other kidney as it's not 100% functioning any help would be greatly appreciated

@pranny Ask your primary doctor for a referral to a nephrologist. Or, if your insurance allows, seek out one on your own. Your urologist may have a person they have worked with before, also.

If kidney stones have been a problem for you, in my experience it is helpful to understand what kind of stones they are to address the underlying problem.
