Diabetes Complications with normal blood sugars and Hgb A1c's

Posted by @mmilward in Diabetes/Endocrine System, Nov 1, 2012

Why am I having many diabetic complications when all of my blood sugars are within normal limits and A1c's WNL. I have been told I’m diabetic due to the following complications. I have gastroparesis, esophageal spasms with moderate reflux, peripheral neuropathy, an ulcer on the bottom of my great toe x 3 months, urinary constriction (harder to void), arthritis that is out of control much of the time, a few scratches that take longer to heal just as the ulcer on the bottom of my toe, and profound sweating even with very little to no activity. My blood sugars range from upper 60’s to low 100’s, 98% of the time. Let me know your thoughts or answer to my problem and does it mean my blood sugars will become abnormal in the near future. I’ve already had one doctor tell me this might happen later on with me. I’m moderately obese, have tried many diets and getting ready to start another one. What can you tell me?

I believe in cutting the intake of starches. Try to eat high fiber foods. Keep good blood circulation. Work on exercise of the toes and feet. Keep feet dry. Make sure that you have good sources of vitamin. Have you already started loosing sensation of you toes? Ask PT to help you to improve the condition of peripheral neuropathy. Watch out what you eat when you are in a restaurant. Do you also have digestive problem? Check your white blood count. Do you also have autoimmunity problem?

Thank you for your rreply. As it was originally stated, yes, I do have autoimmune problems, digestive problems with the gastroparesis and perifpheral neuropathy. In short, I'm being followed with doctors trying to manage my digestive problems and perifpheral neuropathy. I have to watch my feet becausse at this time I do have a ulcer on the bottom of my toe since August of which we are having great difficulty in getting healed. My blood sugars are now showing problems of which I'm really trying to watch and get back to normal. I see a new endocrinologist in a week from now and I am hopeful he can help me get through many of the above problems.
