My wife, who is 79, was diagnosed with dementia about 2 1/2 years ago. It’s progressed quite a bit. She has been on 40mg of Omeprazole (Nexium) for about 4 or 5 years, for reflux. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem? The Doctors have had her on arricept, aggrenox, 600 g of calcium (twice a day), vitamin D3 and Lisinapril. He also put her on Namenda but I took her off of it when she seemed to be getting more confused, until I can talk to the doctor. Sometimes I wish I could take her off of everything and start all over.

My husb is 79 and was diagnosed about 2 yrs ago with dementia, with some talk of FTL. His condition has progressed somewhat; He is not on any medication for this, I’m guessing because he has leukemia and that muddies the waters somewhat. Or perhaps, the MDs do not see the progression as I do? Have you suggested that your wife be taken off all medications and that she “start over?” This was done once with my mother years ago…and she did seem to respond well.
