Dad's cataract is worsening quickly
My dad is 62 years old. He had cataract symptoms starting abruptly in July. He went for diagnosis in August where it was revealed he has a cataract. His eye power was like -5.
He cannot get surgery immediately due to lack of money. He is looking to get his surgery done in next 3-4 months. Concerning fact is that his vision is getting more worse. I cannot see white pupil in his eye.
He has no history of any other disease which causes cataract. He is only doing eye exercises and taking supplements to maintain his eye health. He is not totally dysfunctional but yeah he can somehow manage to read things in his phone unless it is too small.
Sometimes he experiences eye pain. His ophthalmologist didn't tell much about his condition other than stating he has a cataract.

Apparently your father only has cataracts, not any other eye conditions. If that’s true, the good news is that his problem can be and usually is, successfully solved by surgery. It was for me and many, many other people. During the work up for my surgery I complained that my sight was getting worse quickly and attributed it to the cataract growing faster. But I was told that it wasn’t just how much the cataract had grown but where it was growing that really affected my vision. So I should not draw any conclusions about how fast it was growing.
Best wishes to you and your father. Losing eyesight is scary and can be life changing. But in your father’s case, it sounds like the loss of eyesight should be reversible and cataract surgery unlike some surgeries are rarely immediately necessary.
My husband's vision worsened after cataract surgery. Now 4 weeks later, little by little it is coming back. Use the eye drops religiously, stay in touch with the doctor and don't give up hope!
