Crohn's disease

Posted by @brinbakes in Digestive Health, Oct 15, 2012

Hi I am 22 years old and was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was four. I have recently had my third bowl resection, and was wondering what experience and treatmeant options people have had at the mayo Clinic. Do they do things that my gastrointerologist at home would not be able to do? I am currently on Pentasa, and have done Prednisone and Imuran. I also have done Remicade too, and am open to trying Humara. I also have tried some natural things such as probiotics and such. Thank you for your responses.

Hi Brinbakes, I have Crohn's also, for the past 16 yrs. My son is 22 also and was just diagnosed, sick for a year now. We are going to Mayo in November so that he can get help as he is quite sick. I did the Pentasa thing for years...alot of pills, I know., Prednisone and Remicade too. Last thing I tried was Cimzia but no real benefit. Hang in there and I'll let you know when we get back how Mayo was.

Hi there. I also have had Crohn's Disease for over 20 years now and have tried treatment options such as Remicade and I am currently on the Humira. I am also doing a burst of Prednisone at this time. I like the Humira but i believe it may not be strong enough to help me. When I was on the Remicade I had no troubles except for muscle aches. Now on the Humira i no longer have that symptom but have just had a bout of hospitalization.

As for the Mayo Clinic, they are wonderful Doctors and Staff who specialize in this condition and I believe they are some of the best.

Let me know how it goes.
