@detc, Mayo Clinic Connect is an online community to connect with other patients. Mayo Clinic hosts podcasts with Dr. Gregory Poland, an infectious diseases expert and head of Mayo Clinic's Vaccine Research Group which can be found here:
- Podcasts https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/podcasts/
Here is the most recent podcast with Dr. Poland
- COVID-19 update https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/podcasts/newsfeed-post/covid-19-update-2/
Thanks, Colleen. I’m not familiar with podcasts. Would they afford me a chance to ask a specific question of an expert? Would that need to be in real time? If so, how would I know when and how to connect with the podcast? Can I submit a written question to Dr. Poland with an expectation to receive an answer?
You can submit your question in the comment of the podcast and it will be considered for the next broadcast.
Could you please tell me when the next podcast is scheduled with Dr. Poland or how I can reference it? Thank you.
You can follow the podcasts blog here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/podcasts/
Then you will receive a notification when a new podcast (all topics) is posted.
The frequency of the podcasts with Dr. Poland have changed for the summer months. I'm not sure if there is a podcast scheduled for July or not. I will have to inquire and get back to you.
Colleen
Thank you, Colleen. I appreciate your help. I will check into the podcast site.
Another source of information about the vaccines is the Dr. Been Medical Lectures on YouTube. The audience can pose questions or post comments.
Hi, I have been receiving the Covid vaccines since required. 8/24, I received the newest, I WISH I never had. I was basically fine before then. I was awaiting a Script at a Pharmacy and they indicated they just received the first batch...I was there and waiting and said - "sure". God, if I could go back. Days following no pain in the site of the vaccine - but I had the CHILLS so very bad, I felt like some one was SQUEEZING my body and I was so tired - sleeping 12 hours - then napping at noon for perhaps 1-3 hours. So 7 months later, I don't really do anything. Luckily I am retired - otherwise I would have been fired. My PCP who is rather new to me - sort of disses me.
Went to a Rheumatologist in Boston/TUFT Medical...No Rheum. issues (BT)'s detected. I followed up with a Oncologist/Hematologists Group who looked at EPIC and didn't do any testing. They made me think I was making my symptoms up? I wanted to see a IDDoc, but unless you have had a fever...they don't think you are worth the time. Prior to this - I had RSV/Pneumonia - undetected and Nodule found on right lung. Diagnosed by an NP with COPD, allergic to Weixla - Inhalers cost a fortune...which I can't afford. Anyhow, I am in the Boston area - does ANYONE have suggestions on who to see. Thank you. Sue
I would try Mass General Allergy/Immunology. May take awhile to get an appointment. I have MCAS due to Post Lyme which produced your same symptoms after taking the Flu vaccine. At least I think they will listen and believe you and give you referrals to many other doctors who might help. Check their website for a doctor that has experience in your issues.
I know how frustrating it is. Don't give up. Good luck.
Thank you, I will attempt to reach them today - SC
