COVID and Fibro

Posted by pgt104 @pgt104, Apr 8, 2021

I'm a 65 yr old male who has been diagnosed with fibro about 8 years ago. Now I'm dealing with long term symptoms of COVID. I'm trying to figure out when symptoms are COVID vs fibro, especially the fog. Will be getting my 2nd shot tomorrow. Hoping that goes well. Checking to see if others may also be dealing with this and how they did after their 2nd shot.

Hello @pgt104 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I am glad you have found this online community of members who both give and get support from one another. I can understand how it may be difficult to discern your symptoms.

In order to connect you to others with fibro experience, I have also added your post to the Autoimmune Group so that members who may have had COVID and also have fibromyalgia can better offer their support. Members like

While we wait for members to join the conversation, how are you feeling about getting your second dose of the COVID vaccine?

I did have a reaction to the 1st shot so a little concerned but really want to be fully immunized. Can't be much worse than how I feel now.

@pgt104 two weeks after 2nd dose Pfizer, I still have disrupted intestinal system. This is extremely unusual for me, for I have been eating a diet heavy in fruits and veggies. Afraid this will be permanent.

Sorry to hear that. I've been on a plant based diet for 5 years so that would be a challenge. Hope it's not an ongoing problem for you.

@pgt104 Thank you for your comment. I need to know what happened here and why. This kind of "reaction" is barely mentioned in the standard descriptions of reactions. It makes me wonder about the safety or possible long-term consequences of this vax are.
