I have severe scoliosis, diagnosed at age 10. I have managed well without a brace and by staying physically active: swimming, walking, hiking, etc. In recent months I have been experiencing pain due to the scoliosis. I’m getting help from a physiatrist at St. Mary’s Spine Center in San Francisco and an excellent physical therapist here in Berkeley. I try to walk daily. The pain continues to increase, however, and I am becoming frightened. My maternal grandmother stopped walking at my age (early 70’s) and lived in constant pain until she died at the age of 79. Any advice or suggestions would be welcome!
