Comfortable dining room chairs: Hard to sit through a meal with pain
Hello all, I have considerable back and neck pain and find it hard to sit through an entire meal. Does anyone have any advice on dining room table chairs that are high back, have lumbar support, and are appropriate for someone like me? It’s a long shot but I thought I would ask

laura1970, I'm not sure there are comfortable kitchen chairs but some of these might fit your existing chair.
I don't even try to sit for more than 15 minutes at a time https://www.amazon.com/kitchen-chair-back-cushions/s I tried this one https://www.amazon.com/BWPIWPR-Shiatsu-Neck-Massage-Cushion/dp/B0FKZZTP9R/ref=sr_1_36

1 ReactionI realize I am not answering your question directly.
But I have had significant lumbar pain relief by switching to a waterbed mattress.
The effect was unbelievable.

3 ReactionsI have to echo @gently with adding a cushion to your chair. When my sciatica is acting up, I also need to bring my own seat and lumbar cushions to church, restaurants, etc… I always look for the softest seat and then use proper posture to lengthen my back while sitting. I’d ask your physical therapist’s or look up online some seated stretches. I’m not a medical person but have learned a few things over my past 11 years of back and hip surgeries. If I have space, I perform a seated figure 4 stretch (one leg crossed with foot resting on other knee, pushing down on non rested knee.) Another seated stretch is to pull your abdomen in pushing it to round your lower back. (I’m fused at a couple vertebrae so I can stretch into that very far.
Don’t sit for longer than 15 or 20 minutes without getting up to walk a bit, otherwise you may stiffen up.
Again, I don’t have medical training so I hope you have a good PT or doc that you can run some of these ideas by.
Best of health to you! 🌸

1 ReactionJust an update. I found a brand of chair called stressless. Made in Norway. Ergonomic and back is adjustable. I tried it for 10 minutes in the store and felt great. Hopefully will give me a little extra time sitting. Expensive so just ordered one and 5 cheaper chairs for everyone else. They won’t match but I don’t care.
