@nycmusic, I totally agree with you, I just had my colonoscopy yesterday and I’m still a little messed up. I read that they had a new procedure that required swallowing some pills, there’s a lot more detail about it but it sounds promising, when I think about it we only have to do a colonoscopy every 3-5 years so that’s not so bad, there’s far more invasive procedures that we might need in our lifetime and at the end of the day they can save our lives, the choice is yours to make.
@frouke hi, about recovery after colonoscopy…for people with CRC, it isn’t quite the same….they tell you that you can eat whatever you want the next day…but that can overload one’s system….i did better on a soft low fiber diet the day after, then re-introducing fiber gently….with 18 inches less innards, I have to proceed mindfully..
@colleenyoung my CRC was actually discovered by my DO/MD when I was by him for back pain…told him I had persistent belly ache…his hands told him there was a hard lump where it should not be and told me it was URGENT for me to get tested…though he didn’t give a diagnosis, he made me get serious and not hesitate…so I immediately called my great internist and she fit me in and lined me up for fast track testing at NYPresbyterian, where it was diagnosed quickly—big and growing fast…size like a stage 4 but no mets, thank heaven- if I’d hesitated, there probably would have been mets !…..(as a 79 yr old with no family history of CRC i wasn’t required to have c’scope.) of course, i now urge people (1 to notice changes in bowel habits, etc and (2 to do the colonoscopy .

@nycmusic, there’s no comparison between a person who has gone through what you have, I was due for a five year follow up and it was a bit difficult for me because I’m so thin and I wasn’t sure if I could go without food for almost two days.
@vcsongradi So sorry to hear about that. You should sue them. What's the point in having the screening, if it didn't serve the purpose? It's meant to identify the problem.
