Colloidal Silver

Posted by kristiemlove @kristiemlove, Dec 30, 2018

Seeking instructions and dosage for nebulizing colloidal silver.

My mom has used colloidal silver for YEARS from 'Herbal Healers Academy' in Arkansas, as well as "Silver Wings". Both are 500ppm. That, along with Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, has kept this woman the epitome of health for 68 years……until suddenly 8 weeks ago.

She has done some research and found one specific: Respiratory Relief by 'Nature's Rite'. It has peppermint oil and must be administered with a nebulizer, includes peppermint oil yet is only 45ppm. Recommendation is 3mm 3/day.

I would really like to hear anybody's experience, recommendations, suggestions, etc. THANKS SO MUCH!

I'm wondering what ailments you are considering these treatments for specifically?

Hello, I just did a quick search and found some articles about colloidal silver use:
https://www.nccih.nih.gov/health/colloidal-silver
https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/consumer-health/expert-answers/colloidal-silver/faq-20058061
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324793#safety-and-risks
https://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletter_article/Taking_silver_could_give_you_the_blues
As you can see, there are many cautions about using it, and no clear evidence of benefit except as a topical treatment. Silver was once widely used for many problems, but as better choices emerged (antibiotics, for example) it largely fell out of use.

If I were to choose choose to try it on the recommendation of an Osteopath/Functional Medicine doctor, I would make sure they are board accredited, not self-proclaimed. I would ask ask for published studies (not anecdotal articles) about the safety and effectiveness of the recommended treatment.

Keep in mind that silver is known to make any thyroid medication and many antibiotics you may take less effective. It is also permanent once deposited in the body – it doesn't dissolve or get absorbed into the bloodstream and excreted.

Colloidal silver has come up several times in the MAC group. When it comes to supplements and complementary medicine, I always refer to NIH's National Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine to better understand the proven evidence. See this information:

– Colloidal Silver https://nccih.nih.gov/health/silver

The first section of the page states: What’s the Bottom Line?
How much do we know about colloidal silver?
There are no high quality studies on the health effects of taking colloidal silver, but we do have good evidence of its dangers.

What do we know about the effectiveness of colloidal silver?
Claims made about the health benefits of taking colloidal silver aren’t backed up by studies.

What do we know about the safety of colloidal silver?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said that colloidal silver isn’t safe or effective for treating any disease or condition.

According to Dr. Brent Bauer from Mayo Clinic says "Colloidal silver isn't considered safe or effective for any of the health claims manufacturers make. Silver has no known purpose in the body. Nor is it an essential mineral, as some sellers of silver products claim."

Hello Kristie! Was reading over the coloidal silver posts and saw your's. I am wondering how your mother is doing these days? Did she get some improvement in her health back yet?

Thank you Ethan!

It was not a downturn, per se, rather a sudden onset. She went from a perfectly healthy woman who walks/jogs 4-6 miles/day 4/wk to completely reliant on prednisone and oxygen 24/7 in a matter of weeks after brief travel to Arizona (four-wheeling, helicopter). Preliminary diagnosis (after the bronchitis, pneumonia, valley fever, etc.) was Mac and Bronchiectasis, but have since learned the results were read at 3 weeks, not the full 6-8 weeks necessary. Apparently, the scope did not pull great tissue samples so they are going back in on Friday morning via VATS. We are, however, set up with UT Tyler and Dr. Griffith in a couple weeks.

I have been to several medical centers for my Mycobacterium avium complex. The last place was Tyler and Dr. Phillips, unfortunately, I do not have any knowledge about Dr. Griffin. Dr. Phillips was knowledgeable and very involved in their Myco Av Complex project. Because I have allergies to many medicines I was hoping that Ariycase (not spelled correctly) would be something I could take. Unfortunately, I had an allergy to that also, thus I am taking nothing. I also have been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and cannot take any medicines for that either. The blessing in all this, I no longer have to go to all the doctors I did for about 10 years. I wish you the best.
