Hello all. Thank you for being so open about your experiences. I rarely share my "news" but there may be some suggestions here.
My back doc , massage therapist & physical therapist say mine is likely a pinched nerve under the shoulder blades. Their TX plans are widely different & some are directly in opposition!
This DX sounds possible but my surgery several years
ago on the other shoulder with exactly the same symptoms was a torn Rotatator cuff. By now (been this way x 9 months) I'm confused. I'm sure y'all can relate: even walking without supporting my arm is about unbearably painful.
New doc next week: should I ask for pain pills MRI, CT scan ???? Sending a one-armed hug to you all.
Hello @holli, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @antiquetx and other members. I think it's good thing that you are seeing a new doc. If it were me, I would make sure that your new doc knew that your symptoms were exactly the same as your other shoulder that was fixed with rotator cuff surgery. You might want to scan through the other discussions and member comments on torn rotator cuff - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/.

Hi H,
I have experienced this arm pain in both arms at the same time, from the shoulder to wrist, for a period of 2-3 years. I had had partial shoulder replacements but at the start of this pain
my ortho dr took films and could find nothing wrong. So after suffering for this long and seeing multiple MD's, in desperation, I went back to my ortho surgeon to recheck my shoulder replacements. And this time, he found that both shoulder appliances were loose and were wearing away the bone in my shoulder. This of course, did not show up in the original visit to him.
It means full reverse shoulder replacements. I have had one done with complications i.e.
breaking during the surgery. I still have one to go, It may be something you want to look into?
Good Luck to you.

Mayo Clinic has some information on diagnosing and treatment for torn rotator cuff here - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/rotator-cuff-injury/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20350231. Did you have an X-ray to diagnose your other shoulder before having surgery?
