Chronic IBS & Colonic Dismotility Diagnosis, Considering Hemicolectomy

Posted by @peyeinthesky, Oct 17, 2011

My wife has had IBS with colonic dosmotility for over 20 years. She visited the Mayo Clinic (ROC) about 3 years ago where she learned to retrain and strengthen her pelvic floor. In addition, she has tried every drug, diet, supplement and has had countless colonoscopies; all to no avail. She has very few symptomless and pain-free days. She cannot bear the pain anymore and is seriously considering having a hemicolectomy very soon.

I am concerned about the risks and would like to connect with anyone who has had this surgery. We would prefer a more natural, diet-based solution but we have not found any that have worked. There just seems to be no rhyme or reason to this disease. I would really appreciate any feedback and thank you kindly in advance.

Hi, I hope your wife is doing better. I am going through the same thing. I have pelvic floor dysfunction as well and a very prolonged colonic motility. I was just diagnosed with both. Is there any relief your wife got? Did any exersices help? Any help would be appreciated.Thank you, Heidi
