Chronic Gastritis

Posted by randylindsley @randylindsley, Jan 10 10:15am

I have been battling a stomach issue for three months. At first I started having a soapy taste while drinking water from my yeti cup. Then I started feeling bloated and indigestion. After my go to gaviscon couldn’t get it under control I went to my gastroenterologist for help. He put me on Pantoprazole sod dr 40 mg in the morning and famotidne 40 mg at bedtime. After several weeks with no relief they did a endoscopy to see what they could find. Everything looked normal and they took 5 samples for biopsy and everything they tested for was negative. Then he tested a stool sample and it was negative. Then he changed my medication to Dexlansoprazole dr 60mg cap . 20 days in and I still have no relief. I have totally changed my diet. I cant eat dairy or anything with spices or fried food, I have stop caffeine and no alcohol and am on a bland diet. The only thing I have accomplished is 20 lb weight loss. But I still get acid reflux and stomach pain every day. ANY SUGGESTIONS,

If I eat something spicy, fried or anything dairy I get bloated, cramped up and indigestion. If I don’t eat anything it feels normal. It feels good when my stomach is empty.:

What happens if you eat non-trigger foods like oatmeal, bananas, root vegetables, brown rice, etc.

Don’t drink any thing that is carbonated. No citrus or fruit juices.

I had a food sensitivity test done. After I cut ALL foods from
my diet that I was sensitive to, my GERD went away. I’ve slowly added foods back but some things I still can’t eat.

I was just under the impression that if you have acid reflux or GERD, the remedy is avoiding the trigger foods, not eating at night, sleep inclined, and take meds as prescribed. I wasn’t aware that you could return to eating certain foods without a resumption of the symptoms. Most of my family members have acid reflux or GERD. If they eat offending foods, they suffer pain, burning, etc. I wasn’t aware that you could be cured.

I’ve had Gerd in the past I tried pantoprazole which gave me a horrible taste in my mouth but I was able to get past it I’m again suffering with persistent burping no Gerd so they put me back on that same drug and again I’m suffering with that same side effect I also am suffering with a chronic cough that is caused by my stomach issues so I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t I’m up all night with such a horrible taste I feel like throwing up why can’t they come up with something I can take so I won’t get sicker I’m fed up and depressed

You can’t….,, the only relief I have received is if I DONT eat the trigger food. I haven’t had red meat or fried food since October. If my wife uses any spice it kills my stomach. Even a tiny amount of butter is not good, if I don’t eat any dairy and the rest of the stuff I mentioned and take my medicine then it’s manageable. But I can’t keep doing that I’m losing weight and 20 pounds is ok but I can’t keep losing weight. So that’s why I was wondering if anyone has figured out something I don’t know. This is new to me. It came on quick and still trying to figure out how to manage it.
