Chronic fatigue syndrome
Besides having to deal with chronic pain from the neuropathy in my feet, I also have osteoarthritis in practically every joint in my body. However, I've noticed something that wasn't much of an issue until the last few months, and that's my lack of any kind of physical endurance or stamina, because I don't have any.
I've been "retired" for 11 years now, on SSDI and now on regular SS, and I've been capable of some physical activity like going to the gym to lift weights and walk. I had to give up my gym membership over a year ago because I couldn't do it any more, mostly because of pain. Now I'm having a very hard time doing any kind of physical exertion like taking the trash can out to the curb or vacuuming the house without having to take breaks and sitting down. Just walking from one side of the house to the other makes me have to breathe through my mouth now instead of my nose, it's pathetic. No matter how much sleep or rest I get just standing in the shower first thing in the morning is getting harder and harder to do.
I know for a fact that the 60 pounds that I've gained since I walked away from my job has something to do with it, but I still have my upper body strength and most of my leg strength, but I have zero endurance now, and it's never been this bad. I've gone from working 12 hour days for sometimes 6 days a week to being totally useless around the house now.
So what I'm wondering is could it be something like chronic fatigue syndrome? Has anyone here been given that diagnosis? I have an appointment with my doctor next week to talk to him about this, which is something that he's already aware of, we just haven't talked at length about it yet.

I, too, have chronic fatigue syndrome. Blood tests showed that reactivated Epstein Barr Syndrome was the cause. I have no pain but your description of your lack of energy describes mine. The blood test was more extensive than the test we usually get. Have your Doc order test to check for EBV.
Getting the extra weight off will be vey beneficial. Have you had blood work?
