Chemotherapy resistance in bile duct cancer

Posted by denvergirl @denvergirl, Sep 7 3:05pm

denvergirl here..I was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in Aug 2024. It was discovered early and I had successful surgery at Mayo Rochester in Oct 2024. I was on Capecitabine for 6 months and the cancer returned. I was then on Gemcitabine and Cisplatin and Durvalumab
for 6 months and that did not work either. I am now on my 2nd Immunotherapy Trial with Sarah Cannon in Denver. It is not working either and the cancer has progressed. Has anyone else dealt with this resistance? Did you find a therapy that did work?

So sorry to hear that- I had a similar experience diagnosed early had no symptoms August 2024 had surgery September in Pittsburgh-took only 3 doses of capecitabine and they took me off of it then was on antibiotics 6 months - every 3 months scans and bloodwork still in remission
Thank God for all of it but always in back of my mind is a reoccurrence somewhere
Hope and pray you can have a good result soon

@denvergirl I hope you saw the response from @denise134.

Denvergirl, this must come as such a blow when treatment options appear to be running out. How are you doing? Have you asked your team about clinical trials?

@colleenyoung Hi denvergirl. It sounds like you are getting the best care available. My wife and I also live in the Denver area (Highlands Ranch) and while I have never needed them myself I have repeatedly heard good things about CU Health. It sounds like you are already getting very good help but maybe a second opinion on best treatment options. Just a thought. Best of luck. Prayers up.
