Central Neurocytoma

Posted by meye4suns @meye4suns, Sep 14, 2018

My 22 YO son was diagnosed via imaging w/ a CN – from my research (Dr Google is scary), there are about 30 a year. No standard of treatment that’s agreed on. Read about gamma knife, endoscopic surgery, etc. I have an appt next week at Mayo here in AZ but they can’t tell me if the surgeon has done this procedure before. Does Mayo have a way to determine if one of their docs has treated this before. There are papers by neuroradiologists but none by surgeons online I can find. I will take him to Minnesota to get this treated by a physician who has actually tackled this tumor in the past. Thanks in advance.

Hi @meye4suns, I apologize for the delayed response. Somehow your message slipped by me.
I'm tagging @mamab1223 on this discussion. Her sister also has central neurocytoma (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/central-neurocytoma-recurring-diagnosed-today-with-tumors-5-6/)

The physicians at Mayo Clinic work together in multi-disciplinary teams. You will get expert and experienced care at all campuses at Mayo Clinic.
Here are some archived video Q&As with Arizona and Florida based Mayo neurosurgeons to get a sense of their approach and expertise:

Meye4suns: Did you get answers and reassurances at your appointment at Mayo Clinic Arizona last week? Were decisions made about a treatment plan for your son?
