Celiac Artery Aneurysm: Anyone else with same illness?

Hello! I was recently diagnosis with a celiac artery aneurysm in June 2016. I underwent a embolization w/ coils procedure since the aneurysm had grown while in the hospital. I was trying to reach out to someone who suffered the same illness but have not been lucky. I would like to locate someone with my same illness. I would appreciate any help. Thank you

As of May 2018, there have been no changes. The aneurysm is stable, and the pain level is minimum and not consistent. I get like a shockey twingy pain under my lower right rib. I was told by my doctor at Mayo, that the pain if it ruptured would definitely be bad since it is so near my spine. In other words I would know right away if it ruptured.

My apologies as well for not replying sooner, but I lost this thread until today when I was seeing if there's any further studies

Hi! My husband Greg was diagnosed last August with a celiac trunk aneurysm of 1.2 in size that has shown growth from previous scans. He has a lot of esophageal pain and difficulty swallowing so it is hard to determine where his pain is coming from. He is in the “watch and see” phase now but recently also having a weird “shocking or twinge type pain in his lower right rib cage area” – any connection?

Today marks three years since I had my celiac aneurysm surgery. Unfortunately they were unable to stop the blood flow even with the stents and coils they did so we continue to monitor it. unfortunately the aneurysm grew a little on the last visit but it seems the blood flow and pressure is not as big a concern as it was prior to the surgery. Best of luck to all. If we are here writing we are the fortunate.

I was diagnosed with a Fusiform Celiac Artery Aneurysm Oct 28 2021 from a CT scan that was to check out my heart and arteries . It is 1.8 x1.5 cm . With no symptoms. The only trauma I have had was a car wreck 34 years ago that was very bad.
I’m 62 years old in good shape and the VA here in Hampton VA is my Primary Care sines I have retired, the VA here can not help me because it is so rare. I have read all these post from being to end and have only seen 1 post about a Fusiform Celiac Aneurysm on this group. I’m sure when the VA clinic finds me a Vascular Doctor it will be a wait and see as well. But I agree, to be so rare there are a lot of post on this site . So if there is anyone on here that has been diagnosed with a Fusiform Celiac Artery Aneurysm I would like to talk with you. The only post I saw I think was in 2019 on this group.
Before the diagnosis I was walking on the beach a lot , riding my bike, playing golf , and other wise doing what I wanted to.

I was diagnosed with this in 2016. My doctor’s notes suggest:

Better redemonstration and confirmation of 2.1 cm fusiform aneurysmal dilatation of the celiac artery. Associated occlusive dissection with thrombus formation likely within the false lumen involving the celiac artery, proximal common hepatic artery, and origin splenic artery. Etiology of this is unclear. This can be seen in association with underlying vasculitis. No other findings to suggest vasculitis as far as visualized.

I presented with similar symptoms, severe pain in low back with nausea. From onsite of initial pain (while sitting in my barber’s chair hoping he would finish quick because I needed to vomit) until the time I ended up in the ER was 90 minutes. Was on a Friday night. ER doctor sent me home, couldn’t find any reason for the pain. I suffered thought the Memorial Day week and was first in line to see my primary care doctor on Tuesday. He immediately sent me to a general surgeon who admitted me to the hospital (same one I had gone to on the Friday).

I was lucky that the general surgeon was a very experienced doctor with 40+ years of medical practice. He had seen this before and knew what to test and sent me to the vascular surgeon who explained to me “it is like you have wallpaper in the walls of your arteries. For some reason, the wallpaper is peeling from the top and blood is getting behind the wallpaper causing the issue”. Great explanation. The pain was explained as my spleen dying from lack of blood flow. Don’t know if that is a common symptom.

Was in hospital for four days, started on blood thinners (stayed on for 6 months) and re-scanned with no issues. Follow up visit in 2019, no issues.

The VA is my primary and they can not take the case so they are looking outside the VA . I have no pain or symptoms. They found it doing a CT scan for my heart and chest arteries. The only other case beside yours is a 30 year old male with 3 gunshot wounds to his abdomen. They are supposed to be formed by trauma . I had a bad accident 34 years ago and had trauma to my kidneys and broke my left femur. How was your 2019 test . Did the doctor tell you what activities you can do or not do ?

I live a very normal life. I can do whatever I want. I add a note to review with my doctor every year for my physical. The doctor that treated me said to check every five years. Do whatever your doctor suggests.

Jen, like @hopeful33250 I too would like to get to know about you. I didn’t find another Connect member with a diagnosis of celiac artery aneurysm. As you point out, it is very rare. But given that the celiac artery is the first major branch of the abdominal aorta, I thought you might appreciate the introduction to a few members who have recently been talking about living with an abdominal aortic aneurysm. I am just seeing this but ironically I too was diagnosed about the same time. They did not operate because the aneurysm was too small. I havent had insurance so I have just let it ride. Can you tell me how you are doing?

As it's been a while since you last posted, I was wondering how you are doing. Have you found a doctor, outside of the VA, who can provide an opinion on your aneurysm?
