Does CBD oil help you with your depression and/or anxiety?

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I've been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

GeneSight.com is genetic testing site I used, with my psychiatrist's involvement, to determine an effective anti-depressant for me. I've been on Desvenlafaxine (50 mg / day) for 2-3 years, and it is working better than the many others I have ever been on, which were all in the column on the report of being only a little or moderately effective. I've had three suicidal ideation episodes at 72, and my brother (age 84) has tried to commit suicide at least 25 times, according to his wife of over 50 years who almost divorced him because of it many years ago. Thus, my depression is severe, and GeneSight.com was literally life-saving for me. FYI.

I have never heard of this drug. Has it been around for a long time? I have good things about genetic testing as well, glad you found something that works for you.

You may be more familiar with desvenlafaxine's brand names Pristiq or Khedezla.

CBD Oil calms me down dramatically and has another side effect for me – reduced blood pressure. Nice! Not for everyone though, CBC Oil doesn't work for a friend, and for my brother. Try it & go slow at first in case you have a bad reaction. I usually use 5mg or 10mg or 15mg depending on how severe my anxiety is. Also helps me sleep. One side effect – dry mouth, but still well worth it.

Do you have a reputable source to buy CBD oil? I'm interested in trying it. Thanks.

The company I use is called Plus CBD oil, http://www.pluscbdoil.com, and they were recommended by my former psychiatrist. They're not the cheapest but they're known for consistent quality and delivery is accurate and timely. I use the 5, 10 and 15 mg soft gels. One note, you might want to order small quantities until you find out what works or doesn't work for you. The company has frequent sales, which I use to "stock up". So if the product works for you, wait for the sales! Good luck.

Thanks for the information. Am I correct in assuming that the CBD oil does NOT contain any THC?

No THC? That's hard to say. Most CBD oil does have minute barely measurable quantities of THC, which will in no way be "mind altering" as consuming THC in larger amounts. However, minute quantities can be problematic for people being drug tested for work. If you have a question, contact the company you intend to buy from. Also, work with your HR or facility security officer to see what their policy is. Perhaps they can give you a waiver for the minute quantity of THC you may consume.

I use CBDMD. They are very reliable and have good "deals."

Thank you for the info. I may go the medical marujuana route as my doctor has suggested, but thought I'd try the CBD oil first.

I take Tumeric capsules. Is there a benefit in the milk?

Milk is also good for sleep, it contains tryptophan and melatonin, which also helps with healthy sleep cycles:)

I buy CBD gummies to help me sleep. I've toasted marijuana and added it to chocolate. I overdosed by licking the bowl. I was out of it , totally stoned for 7 hours. I could still feel my feet being "crackly "during the whole miserable experience, so the THC didn't help me,
