Cardiac Nuclear Stress Test is a Scam

Posted by @cvw in Heart & Blood Health, Nov 28, 2012

Over the past 20 years I have had 2 Cardiac Nuclear Stress tests performed and I'm scheduled to have my 3rd test tomorrow. Both of the previous tests showed normal blood flow to all parts of the heart although subsequent angiograms detected a 90% blockage of the LAD after the first stress test and a 70% blockage after the second stress test. I have 2 friends that had the same results, one had a 100% blockage and the stress test was normal. In my opinion, the Nuclear Stress Test is a scam.
The fundamental premise behind Cardiac care is Prevention, Detection, and Correction. The Cardiac Nuclear Stress test serves none of these. I bought and read a medical book on how to interpret the images produced by the scanning machine. When I finished the book it became obviuos that the Cardiac Nuclear Stress test was worthless. The only purpose it serves is to show cardiac history i.e. necrotic tissue, which is NON-Actionable (Correctable) by any cardiologist. Another purpose is to show the size of the heart but this can be done through either an Echo Cardiogram or a CT scan at far less expense.
I'm going to cancel my test for tomorrow and find a different cardiologist.

Yep, angiogram and cardiac sonogram are much more effective detecting blood clots. Stress test can detect if your blood does not carry enough oxygen to your body.
