Cardiac autonomic neuropathy aka Cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction

Posted by @johnwburns, Aug 7, 2016

Is anyone here dealing with the above?

I think that the symptom cluster involved generally falls under dysautonomia but my layman’s interpretation is that it is broader than that.

The most common references to it are in conjunction with diabetes but it also manifests in some autoimmune diseases, COPD and probably elsewhere.

I believe that it is tested when an evaluation for dysautonomia is done, tilt table etc but I have no idea how its progression or regression are tracked, possibly via heart rate variability?

Anyway it seems like it is a common co-occorrence with peripheral neuropathy and atypical heart conditions so knowing more about it might shine a light in some corners for some folks, and myself..

@johnwburns I’m not familiar with this. Could you detail some of the symptoms? Thanks!

Listed under “Clinical Manifestations…”. This doc is specific to diabetes but the effects will be the same if caused by an autoimmune disease.

This is general to autonomic dysfunction, not specific to the heart but includes it.

Hope it helps.
