Breztri Inhaler

Posted by suzyq61 @suzyq61, Dec 25, 2025

Is anyone on breztri, I’m on
It about a year, I have noticed I feel like it doesn’t last 12 hours, I take once in morning and once at night and I can tell it’s almost time to take again, now I have noticed last month inhaler and this months inhaler when I take it sometimes i don’t feel like I’m actually getting a full dose and I won’t take it again until the night dose and I notice those days I’m not breathing well, does anyone else have any issues, yes I make sure I rinse the canister like the suggested and it’s not difficult to push down on it to take medication, just wondering has anyone had any issues with this inhaler

an update on Breztri..Been taking it for years and noticed that recently, the doses are not working correctly...Not getting a full dose ...Called Astra Zeneca, they took information and then said they would contact my pharmacy to send 2 new canisters and it would not be counted against my refills and would be free of charge. A week later I had to contact the pharmacy CVS Caremark to see if Astra Zeneca got in touch with the and they had not....So then CVS called Astra Zeneca, a 3 way call, and I received 2 free Breztri canisters, one month supply each.... I do have to wait one month to reorder my routine refill, but at least I have backup now because I was running out...I don't know if Astra Zeneca will look into this problem but my pharmacy is aware now too...anyone having a problem should contact Astr Zeneca and let them know...

@pinsi that’s great they are taking care of you, many people have done everything even got replacements but so far the problem isn’t being fixed, I guess it doesn’t matter to them 🤷‍♀️

I really think that a multitude of calls to the FDA and Medicare will get attention. Better yet, sending e-mails! Medicare is paying a ton of money out for the Breztri and I'm sure would begin to take a look at the issue. I did get a return call from the Breztri folks but it was an AI call...I think calling Breztri the issue will stay internal...the concerns need to be brought to the attention of an agency externally.....so I am going to start calling medicare every month when I run out of the inhaler dosage amount! I also think that since this is on a Mayo site that Mayo should become involved as a patient advocate as their physicians are the ones that write for the script and include Breztri in their treatment plan,. Come on Mayo! Help us out a little!

@kndaustin71 I have been on Breztri for a couple of years now. It seems the last few inhalers are not lasting a full 28 days. Some were as few days as 11, 18 and the one now will be out before my next fill. I have started writing on a calendar where the meter moves with every 2 inhales. I have been on a three-way conversation with the pharmacist and representative at Astra Zenica and of no satisfaction.
About the medication not lasting for 12 hours, well, what I am doing is using my rescue (albuterol) inhaler first thing in the morning and use the Breztri around 10 AM, having to use the albuterol in the mid afternoon and then use my Breztri again around 8 PM. This is what has helped me. Astra Zenica has mailed me envelopes to return the inhalers to them, but I feel if they do anything to check them and there is a problem, they will probably just sweep it under the rug. I am entertaining the idea to go directly to the FDA. Does anyone think that is the better thing to do? Thanks

@sharynlynn I usually do the albuterol first also, and at times I can hear I’m not getting full dose of the breztri so I know I’ll need the albuterol at some point in the afternoon, the breztri is great when you do get a full dose, some mentioned they called the FDA and Medicare also including astra zenica and wasn’t getting no where which I’m shocked. 🤷‍♀️

@suzyq61 I fully intend to contact Astra Zenica again next week and then the FDA. I have probably 10 used inhalers that never lasted a full 28 days.

The nozzel itself gets clogged so take the canister out place the plastic part in a nice warm Results:
Yes, it is very important to wash the plastic part (actuator) of the Breztri Aerosphere inhaler weekly to prevent medicine buildup, which can block the spray and reduce the amount of medication you receive.
Be sure and not get the set aside canister wet at all.
How to Properly Clean the Breztri Inhaler:
Remove the Canister: Take the metal canister out of the plastic actuator and set it aside. Do not let the canister get wet.
Rinse the Actuator: Remove the mouthpiece cover. Run warm water through the top of the mouthpiece for 30 seconds, then through the top of the actuator for another 30 seconds (60 seconds total).
Check for Buildup: Inspect the actuator and mouthpiece for any remaining medicine buildup. If there is, repeat the rinsing steps.
Dry Completely: Shake off as much water as possible. Allow the actuator to air-dry completely, preferably overnight, before putting the canister back in.
Re-prime the Inhaler: After washing, you must re-prime the inhaler by releasing 2 test-puffs into the air, shaking before each spray.

I have the same issue. A complete waste of time calling Astra-Zeneca with the issue. The want you to mail in the inhaler that you are using......not listening.......it's each and every inhaler that fails to give full doses. Perhaps FDA would be more helpful

@kndaustin71 Feel if they find something wrong with the canister they will just sweep under the rug.
