Breast cancer staging

Posted by @jajo55 in Breast Cancer, Sep 5, 2011

I just got a report from my surgeon, after bilateral mastectomy and removing 5 lymph nodes each side, he sataged me at 1B. What does that mean? An earlier biopsy of lymph node on right side was diagnosed cancerous, but tested benign when removed. I've completed 6 months of chemo.

Staging is basically saying what level of disease you are at. In other words, if you're in the beginning, middle, or end stage of the disease. Stage 1 is the earliest....and best. Stage 4 is the last stage of cancer. Stage 1B means you're still stage 1 but close to stage 2. Consider yourself very lucky that your cancer was caught this early. I hope this was helpful to you.

I have a 3 cm lump under my arm that is causing severe pain in my back and shoulder also with non stop burning in my breast area. Has anybody experienced these symptoms with breast cancer?

I have had severe scapular and shoulder pain for one year. Fullness in underarm. Recent mamo showed breast cancer. Waiting for biopsy.

I wish you the best. I am waiting for my results of a biopsy lymph node. I should hear today. I was told it looked suspicious.
