"Brain Fog"

Posted by @jodeej, Tue, Nov 20 8:32am

Hi all,
I've been AWOL since my husband's 4 month post transplant check earlier this month. All is fantastic physically, thankfully!! Unfortunately, his cognition is still not good. We had requested neological testing while we were there and the results came back with abnormalities and they don't know what is causing it. We go back for a follow-up on Dec 3. He was to return to work this month, but we are unsure when or if this is ever going to happen.

We have much to be thankful for this season. My husband's transplant and all the wonderful people we have met in this journey. In person and on here.

Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to you all,
JoDee

Hi @jodeej – So glad to hear about your husband's successful recovery from the transplant. And sorry to hear of the cognitive issues. Not sure if you have checked out the Connect Page on Living With Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). There's some great information there about Mayo's program called Healthy Action to Benefit Independence and Thinking (HABIT). My husband developed MCI a few years ago and really gained a lot from going through the HABIT program. Thought you might be interested in checking it out. And don't hesitate to shout out if I can answer any questions about it. I know from experience that its a scary time when you are dealing with all the neurological testing and all the unknowns. Wishing the best for you and your husband.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. I am happy for you and for your husband that he is recovering well physically. I commend the both of you for requesting neological testing while you were at your appointment. I will be thinking about you both as you make the return trip to Mayo for follow-up.

Will you be able to stay at GOL? (Gift of Life Transplant House)
Hugs to both of you.
