Bleeding back passage

Posted by flowerfairy @flowerfairy, May 26 2:08pm

I’m 39 female. I have had some blood streaks on paper for past few months nothing that concerned me but Sunday morning when I emptied my bowels there was a lot of blood on paper and in the bowl. Come to Tuesday (bank holiday weekend) and again same thing happened.

I went to the doctor same day no internal or external haemorrhoids, no fissure. I have to do 3 stool samples, two for the doctor and they’re sending me a fit test in the post.

Some extra info; I have ibs I take mebeverine, I have always had loose and urgent stools, my thyroid is currently all over the place January tsh was 42, iv been on 125mg Levothyroxine for years it was upped to 150mg, March tsh 0.04 dose changed to alt day dosing 125/150, and May tsh 0.04 dose has been put back to 125mg and retest again in 8 wks I don’t know if this relates to my current issue

Anyone know what this could be I’m extremely worried

Hi @flowerfairy and welcome to Connect. I'm sorry you are having such concerning issues, it's great you were able to see your doctor so quickly.

It sounds like appropriate testing is being done, did your doctor talk to you about what it could be? Do you have a follow-up appointment scheduled?

@susanf8 hi thank you for replying. No she didn’t and I was too scared to ask tbh I don’t have a follow up appointment booked in but will call to book that once my results are back

@flowerfairy That sounds like a good plan, although I think it's often less scary to have a doctor go over results with me than to get them before I see the doc. I'm not sure if you can access results online before you see the doctor where you are, but I can here. That's not always a good thing, although I think most results have to be released by the doc before I see them.

Even if the results are normal (and sometimes especially if the results are normal), I want to talk with a medical professional about them.

Do you know how long the tests will take?

@susanf8 no I can’t access them before the doctor. It’ll be around a week for samples I take to the doctor and I’m not sure about the fit test
