Bildyos vs Prolia

My specialty pharmacy is not covering prolia anymore. It is covering a new drug called bildyos which they say is biosimilar to prolia. The active ingredient is denosumab which is the same as prolia. The claim from the pharmacy is that this is more cost effective and equally as safe and effective as prolia. Does anyone have information about this? I am concerned that the "affordability" is due to it being less safe, pure or potent than prolia.

The patent for Prolia expired in February 2025 so generics are now coming on the market. Bildyos is one of these. It’s the same medication. It’s a similar situation as when those of us who were prescribed Forteo are dispensed generic teriparatide or prescribed generic alendronate vs. Fosamax. My insurance company always approves generics over brand name when available as they are cheaper.
