BE/NTM and now bladder infection

Posted by rozie83 @rozie83, Jan 17 12:22pm

I have BE diagnosis for 3-4 years. I now have a bladder infection which is painful but has exhibited no other signs of illness. The bladder infection is Klebsiella pneumonia. My internist
prescribed Cephalexin before the microbiology report. The pain is slowly getting lessened. Of course, as I write this it is Saturday and don't know if my internist will call with different script or even if this is the right or wrong one. I can and will call her, but my question is complicated by the fact that I have an Infectious Disease doc at National Jewish Health. NJH is closed on Saturday. I could write to him. which he might see on Monday. I am awaiting the results of a sputum culture I sent there 10 days ago. Is it appropriate to contact him with these new findings? Why do these conundrums always occur on the weekend. Thanks for any advice you'd like to offer. Roz

I think it would be fine/good idea to tell him about the antibiotics. If you think you’ll see the sensitivity and get antibiotic change Monday morning, you could call after that. Doctors vary in their responses to MyChart. Ic they’re quick, a message would be fine. If not, call and leave msg with nurse.

@pacathy Thanks. I did talk to my internist's on call doc. She said I'm on the right medication, and I should finish that medication although it doesn't hurt to advise the ID doc. Appreciate your response. Roz
