Attacks of repeated belching, pain, sweating and dizziness?

This has been going on some 3 years now and nobody can seem to figure it out. I will have these episodes that start with getting really hot. And my middle abdomen just above my belly button starts burning like glass is in there and makes it hard to breath sometimes. Then I start uncontrollably belching over and over and over again for upwards of 20 to 30 minutes. Then it fades away and I am soaked in sweat and exhausted.

I have been seeing a GI and so far she has diagnosed me with gastroperesis, SIBO which has gotten better, she suspects I have IBD of some type but can't get time off work for endoscopy, or colonoscopy. But what I describe does not sound like anything she familiar with.

I have hypoglycemia of unknown cause. Endo suspects glycogen storage disease.

Hi @bumble81, I understand how frustrating it can be to deal with multiple GI issues and not have a clear avenue or treatment plan. It definitely weighs on your quality of life.

I know @drpepper has dealt with similar issues. I invite them to share their experience as well.

This is another discussion that was talking about constant belching that you may find interesting: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/uncontrollable-burping-and-belching/

I know that gastroparesis can cause major belching and abdominal bloating and pain. Some other members have mentioned that the medication that they take for SIBO can cause similar symptoms as well. Are you currently on medication for your SIBO?

I am not currently on any meds for SIBO. I took xifaxin twice and cipro combined with flagyl once. After I have my egd and colonoscopy, if that comes out negative I am going to start considering some sort of nuerodigestive issue. I looked up a doctor by the name of Brian Lacy that works for Mayo and he seems to be well versed in the condition and has found reliable treatments for it too. I would just have to find someone familiar with his methods in my state of Michigan.

Hello @bumble81

I am sorry to hear of these uncomfortable symptoms. As Amanda (@amandaburnett) mentioned not coming up with a diagnosis and treatment plan is very frustrating. I do not know what part of Michigan you are from, but if you can go to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, they might have a GI specialist to help you.

As a Michigander myself, I go there for some rare conditions that are best treated at a university research center.

Will you keep in touch and provide an update as you can?
