IAbout a month ago a normal cold my husband brought home ( he had for 3 days) went right to my chest...the flem was unreal. OTC meds didn't touch it. I wound up makeing/doing a mustard wrap(compress) front and back for about 10 mins and it kicked that horrible chest congestion/cough out of my system. My grandmother use to use them from time to works very well,.just be sure to time it and check your skin. once it begins to turn a little pink remove the wrap. this past time only took @10 minutes. Last time i did one @7years ago on my daughter it took close to 30 mins. so stay on top of it and keep a close watch. stay warm with lots of layers. hope you feel better soon..

I am now suffering with Asthma Bronchitis, have been for two weeks, meds: Prednisone; Leviquinn; Albuterol; A steriod nebulizer added; taking 2 lasix for all the fluid (they thought I was having conjestive heart failure ) too : now I have coughed so hard and so much I think I have dislocated a breast implant, great now that would mean operation on boobs number 5, I seem to have this bronc this month every year , usually lasts 4 weeks, i have found that a cool mist vaporiser beside the head of my bed helps with some of the coughing, drinking hot drinks, and the old addage Chicken Soup with lots of pepper, also saw a remedy of : 1/4 tsp of Cumin, 1/4 tsp Honey and mix with some tea and drink it down... hope you feel better soon.

I seem to be improved somewhat this morning, having a more productive cough which has helped with the breathing, my bronchial tubes were just to stopped up and swollen not letting enough air pass thru. As for getting old, yes I am a 63yr old and I have had 20 surgeries since the age of 10. My last one was to fix my left kidney that had partially died from a blockage, in surgery 11 hours, now have 1/2 kidney on left, working like a charm tho...didn't realize there was anything wrong with it, just knew i was sick all the time, gained over 50lbs (not from eating πŸ™‚ ( PS: kept complaining to the Doctor about gaining so much weight, and that I felt something was wrong, his comment "just stop eating so much" ) , legs swelling, red , achy, headaches anyway became violently ill , my daughter rushed me to hospital, ended up at Wake Forest Hospital...I told my mother I must have been behind the door when the Good Lord gave out parts, because I got all used ones Have a wonderful day. wow. the luck of the irish cause i've had a few surgeries myself. but the most bad was the whooping cough at 3 yrs. bob apparently that started all this. the cough is better today and so maybe this too shall pass? good luck and god bless πŸ™‚

Hope you are starting to feel better this morning, I am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel, my constant coughing is subsiding, Thank Goodness πŸ™‚ I had viral pneumonia at age 5 in hospital 1 1/2 months, I look the picture of health, looks can be deceiving tho, I guess the Good Lord has allowed me to go through all this so I could maybe help someone else to know they too can survive no matter what comes their way. Have a wonderful day.... Rexana

PS: Say a little prayer for my son, he is in Aphganistan for the next six months, he is an ER Trauma Doctor... out in the field...

i've had severe coughing attacks off and on for almost 3 years now. combivent advair nasonex astelin and rounds of prednisone sometimes up to 3 weeks. the only cough relief i get is from 10 mg vicadin up to 4 a day per lungs ache and constant wheezing and goobs of flem- had staph and then separate cocci infection caught by a good pulmonary md.-i had a bad case of tuburculoses in 1987 from paramedic job for fire dept. had lung surgery-loculated empyema and then mild asthma ever since --then 3 years ago symptons ramped up untill present-2 m.d.--no real relief-- all they say is more prednisone-musinex keep me off pred for a few months. thinking about going to mayo in fl--i'm miserable. developed type 2 diabetes from prednisone and high b/p from combivent--sugar over 300 when on pred. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. i'm at the end of my rope

i always say a prayer for anyone who is going through this same thing. it is torture for cough in front of people and see them back away and think i am going to give them something. then watch some young person light up a cigarette and laugh at me because i caution them! will anyone learn and listen to some wisdom?? 40 yrs. and finally saw the light but too late for me. hope you continue to do well and bless your son and keep him safe from harm and to come home safely.

Thank you for your prayers. I am still coughing a little, woke up this a.m. 4:00 wheezing had to do the neb treatment to be able to breath. I too smoked for 12 years, quit 2 years ago. Went back to Doc regarding lab results, he was checking me for RA, well wouldn't you know it , I have GOUT, who ever heard such. I thought GOUT was a mans disease πŸ™‚ Oh well, my Uric Acid was rather high... now I have to take Alipurinol twice a day, more money out the window ... It is 26 degrees here and some wet snow on the ground...brrrrr Do have a great day.

What is a mustard pack or i mean how do you make one etc thanks

Posted by @denverrose, Nov 26, 2011

I was a smoker for many years and quit almost 12 years ago. Early last year I noticed I was wheezing some and started Advair. I don't know if that is what you are on but I didn't read thru the directions completely and so after my first dose I started coughing almost constantly. I read the directions completely and it says to rinse your mouth when finished or it can cause chronic coughing. Last fall I thought I had a cold but it went into my sinus' and I suffered 4 months before a stranger told me she had the same problem and her doctor put her on a RX for a Z pack which is a 3 day dose and it worked. Since then I have much mucous drainage (Dr. says a body can produce up to 8 gal. per day) which goes to my bronchia and I cough a lot . Of course I sneeze, blow and sniff a lot as well. When I have a change of body position e.g. sleeping and getting up I start this all over again. Mustard plasters only work for the lungs not the bronchia also you can go online to the drug mfg. and see if they have financial support. I have one drug I get free even though I have insurance my cost would be $110 and they allow an income of $42,000. Not all manufacturers are as generous or are just plain stingy. Good Luck. thank you for the info. advair does not do anything. now i think if have a case of thrush on my tongue! bob! this is just tooooo much fun. yes there is a lot of phlegm. i am trying to get on symbicort with some financial help. so there maybe hope!

Posted by @rexana, Nov 29, 2011

I went back to Doc yesterday, still have coughing too, but it is starting to subside some, he gave me Symbacort to add to the regimen, now that is 2 neb treatments, 2 rescue inhalers...thank goodness he GAVE me the Symbacort, it is expensive, the doctors sometimes have samples , ask if they have any when they prescribe meds for you, my doc gave me 4 inhalers.... Oh yes, one other thing I do that helps : using a NETTIE POT nasal wash, bought it at Wal-Mart, works great to keep down sinus drainage and conjestion , the drainage triggers the coughing if it becomes excessive. Do have a good day, as I will be trying to also... Rexana

Posted by @annangeldavid, Nov 30, 2011

just got a script for symbacort so will try it. good luck

well if u are taking a steroid derivative drug for asthma it is predicted that chronic bronchitis will developed even more since the steroid are immune suppressor as side effect so keep away from irritant material for a while go to some place worm and with clear air maybe the country side and there try to treat the bronchitis and about the drug keep on using it for the whole period that ur docter advised u with ...hope u the best

I listen to same music every night that is training my breathing. Make a 30 min playlist with first 20 min dance music and 10 min soothing music. All the songs should be your favorite. When you hit the bed listen to the music training your ears to the drums and bass, instruments actually, by the time the soothing music arrives you are lulled to sleep, see that music instrument switches off auto. I am doing it from several years, it works for me. I also drink a glass of warm water before going to sleep and put a clove in my mouth.
I was in pre bronchitis stage till now I suffer from dust allergy and anemia, and was doing away with wheezing with mucus with a antibiotic augmentane course with sorbitol cough syrup when it was serious and with cetazine when mild for dust allergy. But now i get it every now and then so i have to get tested. So I would like to know what is pulminary ?

I have mostly cured myself of asthma with probiotics from health food store and coffee. Many asthma drugs break down into caffeine in the body. Probiotics boost run down immune system.
