Are companies offering "unlimited appointments" legit?
Hello everyone,
I've been living with IBD for a few months now and feeling pretty anxious about the whole thing. I'm in Bangor, Wales, and I've had a few appointments with my consultant but not much in the way of diet advice. NHS :/
I can get a nutrition plan through my employer, which is optional and would be paid from my work benefits budget. The plan claims to have uncapped/unlimited appointments.
Their offer says it is “fully unlimited” and I couldn't find any public fair-use cap anywhere. On the employee page they also say consultations are available “as often as you need”, but who actually decides what you need?
There is also basically no info on how long it takes to get an appointment or what the waiting times are like.
I also found it a bit weird that there aren't many Reddit posts or detailed reviews about the company, especially from people who have actually used the unlimited employer plan for a while.
Another thing that confused me is that there is a contradiction on their website. For one of their other services, which isn't the same plan I'd be getting, the employee page says users get “unlimited nutrition appointments”, but the FAQ says “one free consultation per month” for that exact same group.
So it makes me wonder what “unlimited” actually means in practice.
The price is quite steep, even though it would come out of my work budget, so I want to look into it properly before signing up.
Not sure if I can drop the company name here, but if anyone has access to something similar, or has come across a service like this, I'd really love to hear what your experience was.
Especially curious about how often you could actually get appointments, whether there were any hidden limits, and how long you normally had to wait.
Best,
C

@carolecsz, I'm not sure how private insurance works in Wales or the NHS. If it sounds too good to be true, then I would be suspect. I recommend calling the NHS or a private insurance broker to find out more about the company.
