Aorta

Seeking heart surgeon(s)..

I have a 7yr old cousin who has an anomily organ, it is her right coronary artery. I am told she has artery branches that are suffocating the aorta. Doctors scheduled procedure 30 days in advance and 1 day before the surgery they claim there is no doctor in the nation that can perform procedure. I’m having a hard time digesting this comment…why then would they schedule an appointment weeks in advance knowing there is no doctor that could have performed procedure. Nice way to crush hopes in a 7yr old.

Is there really no doctor that can perform procedure?

Desperately seeking help!

Update: My cousin might have found her doctor. Appointment has been scheduled for January 2013. I hope this day does not turn out to be a hoax. Only time will tell.

I hope she has. I had 2 unsuccessful surgeries, then my Cardiologist found a Dr. at the Mayo Clinic who was able to fix my heart. I had a very different condition than your cousin, but finding the right Dr. is what makes the difference in unusual conditions. I wish her the best – and hope that she did find her doctor!!!!
