My husband was diagnosed in December 2025 with an Acoustic Neuroma about the size of a golf ball. He has lost his hearing on right side and has some balance deficits. They think he may have had it for years. But it has grown so much that it’s pressing on the brain stem. They are repeating the MRI April 10. What treatment did anyone else have for this

I have an AN that is relatively small, the hearing on my right side is almost gone and the AN is not passing on my brain stem. It was growing slowly. I'm a breast and bladder cancer survivor, so I decided to get Gamma Knife treatment. A year after I got it, the tumor had swelled a bit (which is normal). After the second yearly MRI, it stabilized (no more swelling or growth). I get my next MRI in August. The team at Mayo is excellent at making recommendations and explaining all of the pros and cons. They factor in many variables. I am a member of the Acoustic Neuroma Association (ANA) where I received a lot of info. Mayo also has much printed info & I think Mayo & other hospitals with AN specialties support this association. They bring research & results to our attention. A new diagnosis can be scary & confusing. Take time to reach out to credible resources. Best wishes for finding the right solution for you.
