Anyone using the Aerobika positive oscillating pressure therapy?
Saw a new pulmonologist who advised me to get the Aerobika. I have only using it a couple of days. I use it after using the nebulizer. Right now I am not getting a lot of mucus up but I think I am coughing less. Anyone else have any experience with this device?

I have ALOT of mucus and use it after nebulzing saline and it really helps a great deal. The vibration it creates loosens the mucus and along with breathing techniques and positions I am able to get it all up and out. If you do not have much mucus it may not seem as effective but it still is worth using to keep things moving.

1 ReactionI think many here use it or the Acapella and huff coughing as part of their airway clearance. It seems all the well known bronchiectasis clinics recommend them. At least a couple of people also use the Autogenic Drainage app to help get mucus out. I just started using it after a recent bout with Covid with persistent slightly elevated temps (from lungs?) and I like it. It helps with deep breathing/huff cough.
I use it daily.

1 ReactionI use the Aerobika and the nebulizer together. The Aerobika fits right onto the nebulizer. It saves time and is pretty effective, although the amount of mucus I expel varies from day to day. Below is a clip that is pretty informative. You can adapt it to your nebulizer. This is what works for me and offered to you for educational purposes. Good luck!

When I know there's still stuff to get up but am having difficulty, I use the Aerobika. It's great that it can be used during postural drainage. I've stopped using Aerobika with nebulizer concurrently and appreciate the time savings. I have not noticed negative consequences from stopping its use with the saline/nebulizer. In fact, it's likely more saline is reaching my lungs instead of landing on the Aerobika, a definite plus.
My issue with Aerobika is that it stops fluttering before I run out of breath. So in this way, I believe it could otherwise be improved. Without Aerobika I can regulate the length of my exhalations but with Aerokiba I cannot. Aerobika stops before the end of my exhalations. Nonetheless I believe it is better than the Acapella, which I used previously, and a valuable tool for us despite its drawbacks.

2 ReactionsHopefully I will find some relief from my cough. Right now I don't seem to have a long exhale. I will find out more after to day when I have a PFT. Thank you for your input. I really appreciate it.
Yes, my Aerobika is like that too, but I just keep exhaling without the flutter. The way I think of it is the flutter "loosens" the mucus, and the prolonged exhale helps move it along...
According to the RT at my pulmonologist's office, we are lucky - we have better than usual pulmonary function for a person using the device. they said as each new type of PEP device comes out, they try it to see if it better than the Aerobika or Acapela, but so far haven't found anything.

2 ReactionsI used acapella for the past 2 years and didn’t produce much mucus and felt I was trying too hard. My doc had me try the aerobika, and I like it better. I also like the fact that it comes apart for cleaning. Just wondering if its okay to clean this in baby bottle steralizer?
