Anyone in the '''''COR T trails?

Posted by judyresnick @judyresnick, Apr 16 12:34pm

I read that it has put people in remission. I want to know if it. opens the parent up to infections like the immunosuppressant

Sorry, it's CAR T. It could be the first real hope for a cure. Anyone involved

Big articles about CAR T . First thing. that looks like a cure for many autoimmune diseases. Are any of you in the trials. I don't know if they are even doing them but reading about it got my hopes up. I don't know if it opens you up. to infections .

its CAR T, not COR T

"Early clinical experience with CAR-T cell therapy in autoimmune diseases has been encouraging. In trials involving lupus patients, no cases of life-threatening CRS or severe neurotoxicity have been reported. The most common adverse events were transient flu-like symptoms, mild cytopenias, and self-limited fever [5]. This suggests a potentially more favorable safety profile when CAR-T is used for immune recalibration rather than tumor eradication.
However, B cell aplasia—a predictable on-target effect of CD19-directed CAR-T cell therapy—remains a concern. Prolonged B cell depletion increases susceptibility to infections and may necessitate immunoglobulin replacement therapy during immune reconstitution [7]. While expected, this effect underscores the need for careful patient monitoring.
Another potential risk is off-target toxicity, where CAR-T cells inadvertently recognize antigens expressed on healthy tissues. Although rare, such events could result in organ damage or non-specific immune activation [10].
Importantly, over-depletion of immune cells could have unique implications in younger or comorbid patients, leading to impaired host defense. Thus, patient selection, pre-infusion immune profiling, and long-term follow-up are essential to minimize risks [15]."
I'm not involved in the trials in any way. https://www.mdpi.com/2674-0621/5/4/15.

My daughter has 5 autoimmune diseases. All the immunosuppressant drugs have
caused all allergic reactions and opened her up to terrible infections
every single one of them is this gonna be a problem with this new treatment
therapy. Is there a way to protect against infections before you take these
things. She’s in the hospital right now with sepsis terrifying she’s 59
years old and hasn’t had a well day since she was very young starting at
five with Graves’ disease now it’s Crohn’s lupus psoriatic rheumatoid
arthritis a bechets Shogranes . She has no life. I’m hopeful this is
something that can help her or will it create infections like the other
drugs ??? Thank you for responding.

judyresnick, I'm saddened by your daughter's experience. I can only imagine how terrible it has been to see her suffer. It's good that she has you by her side.
CART T is exciting even at this trial stage. The trials aren't always easy to get into and I've noticed that many of them are in China. https://clinicaltrials.gov/expert-search
There will be later stage, larger trials. It's good to get all the information you can so that when your daughter recovers she'll be ready for any possibility.
You might sign up at this site. https://medsearchglobal.com/antistudydetail/NCT07115745
I hope she has an easy recovery and out of the hospital.
Bless this struggle with luck.

@gently how kind of you to write. I truly appreciate it. I am hoping they find this is not a danger after the trials. She can’t risk more infections. 💜

You can also search for additional CAR-T therapy studies on the link below. It has multiple filters already applied for CAR-T, USA locations, and autoimmune diseases.
https://clinicaltrials.gov/search
Some people report relatively easy experience with CAR-T, but neurological toxicities can be significant and may happen months after the treatment. Patients have low immunity for about 3 months; then immune system restores itself. Infections are not the main risk with CAR-T, but there are other toxicities to consider. It is important to be near the treatment center for a min of 3 months.

I read somewhere that Parkinson’s was a risk. That’s a tough one. I will start looking . It’s always the side effects that are scary. Iv seen people with Parkinson’s. It’s very rough.

@judyresnick Your daughter seems like a possible candidate. There have been some articles on this treatment, maybe there is a way to contact the research facilities?
