Anyone experiencing hives since diagnosed with PMR?

Good heavens, yes: the inside of my left forearm. Started when the PMR was at its worst this past spring.

Now on prednisone and my arm still itches occasionally. Moreover, I have a few itchy welts on the opposite hip. Can't stop it from itching for love or money.

@p0rtia are you saying the hives happen before starting prednisone?
Mine have disappeared ( had only once) since being off prednisone in February.
Very annoying… I found a dose of Benadryl helped.

Hives can be a reaction to something environmental, an immune issue, meds induced, food related or simple worry. I've had hives from mono, ampicillin, raspberries and some collagen supplements. I was told that the hives when I had mono was stress.

The hives on my hip appeared after starting prednisone.

The itchiness on my forearm started before the prednisone--when my PMR was at its worst and not officially diagnosed. (I've never had hives before, and am not prone to rashes.)

Now I’m wondering if it’s a reaction to the PMR and not prednisone. I was getting hives off and on while in the active stage of PMR and blaming it on the prednisone. Maybe it is the autoimmune condition itself to blame. Haven’t had any recurrences lately except I do have thin itchy skin but no hives eruptions. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hard to tell--but I didn't have the hip hives until after two weeks on 15 mg pred.

Of course it could be one of my other meds, too--or an interaction.

Hydrocortisone cream, antibiotic cream, aloe do nothing. An ice pack helps.

@p0rtia I always had to ice the hives.
