Hello . My left hip is bone on bone. Right hip is getting there. I can only walk with two canes and am 60 years old). I have a deep fear of surgery for some reason. There was a 2016 article on artificial cartilage (from stem cells) grown on a scaffold. This was an article regarding Cytex in conjunction with the Washington University of Medicine in St. Louis. Does anyone know how far that is away for human trial? Are there any other artificial cartilage options being developed beyond stem cell injection (which does not currently have the ability to direct the stem cells to generate cartilage)? Any other options to consider versus total hip replacement?
