Adult Mono

Posted by @jefferyjames, May 19, 2012

I am 60 years old and I had mono about 7 years ago. I got it again this last mid-March and I keep waiting for it to go away. It is less severe than it was but the fatigue is annoying. Originally I could hardly hold my head up without getting dizzy. Now I can engage in some kind of activity for 15-20 minutes before I have to quit. Usually I put my head down which seems to help. This has been going on for 8 weeks and my Doctor says that there is nothing that she can prescribe or do for me. Does anyone have a similar situation going on ?

I have just been diagnosed with mono & I am 68. Never had it before. I have had fevers since Feb. 2012 & after extensive blood work, scans, & being in 4 different hospitals, I finally got an answer. I just don’t have any energy, run a temp day & wake up soaked during the night when fever breaks, I can work in the house for about 20 min & feel like I have been working all day. I don’t get dizzy but have severe headaches. My dr. said to drink plenty of water, rest some, but also to be sure to get out & go somewhere, walk a little bit, or do something to get a little exercise as it was not good to sit all the time.
