Acid Reflux and low sodium…..help
I have acid reflux and low sodium. I am drinking electrolytes but burns my throat when I swallow it. My tongue also burns most of the time. I know there is food that irritates your acid reflex. (I am avoiding those) I have set up a Bravo esophageal , PH test. hopefully that will give us more information. Has anyone had this procedure? Any suggestions on what to drink or eat to satisfy my low sodium and acid reflex?

I do not know anything about this procedure, however, I have been treating my acid problem, which is combined with low sodium with a teaspoon of baking soda and water in the morning. This is usually used for metabolic acidosis and I keep up my sodium use on foods whenever I feel like it. Also keep hydrated.
I would suggest to try Kefir (not flavored one though, just plain). I have GERD for years and was on different meds, now on Rabeprazole (Acifex), but sometimes it's not enough, especially at night. So just a half cup of Kefir takes care of an acidic taste in my mouse perfectly. It is full of probiotics that are very beneficial for your digestive track. I know for a fact that in many European countries, if you are hospitalized for ANY reason, Kefir is an addition of the your evening menu, absolutely volunteered one. However, in some individuals, in may trigger a reverse reaction because of its tangy nature. Doctors are suggesting it more and more often.
