Ablation Therapy - Does It Lead To Metastases?

Posted by mrscott @mrscott, Oct 4, 2022

In trying to research ablation therapies such as TULSA-PRO, at least one source suggests that ablation leads to circulating tumor cells, which tend to establish micro-metastases?
"Whole gland TULSA-PRO and HIFU outcomes" blog on ProstateCancerNews.

Have I understood this correctly?
Can met establishment be avoided by e.g. ADT treatment? The therapy is appealing as a 'first pass', in terms of low side-effects and not blocking later RT or RP. However if this idea is incorrect, I certainly don't want to follow it...

@mrscott, you ask a good question and I might suggest asking your cancer team about whether ablation is right for you. Reading evidence-based sources, I have not found evidence that ablation causes spread.
