6 months of the big 3 and my white blood cell count is still very low

@kasper1 When first diagnosed my white blood cell count was high and after awhile on the antibiotics it normalized and has stayed in the normal range. My hemoglobin remains low and my RDW tends high. What does your doctor say?

@mjb24 my doctor does not say nothing about it. I told her at my last appointment that I want to stop taking the antibiotics because of the cramping in my legs and arms . She said well I will check your blood work maybe you are way down and need a break . But it is the same very low count I have had the whole time.

My normal WBC over years has been 6-7K, now 3. Hemoglobin and hematocrit have dropped 30% and RBC are now in the abnormal low range yet no one seems too concerned so we will watch and wait. The nature of medicine, it seems but at the same time I am out of options with nothing to go to. These are mean illnesses

@kasper1 @smtdoc It is my understanding that a low white blood count is due to some illnesses but also an indicator of the immune system not working properly. Maybe you should have that looked at ?

I agree- I have my monthly immunologist appointment and IgG transfusion this week

So I did ask the doctor about why my white blood cell count is still low . She said that the antibiotic Rifamp can cause it . I can say I am feeling better. I can walk up a lil stairs without being short of breath and get laundry out of the dryer . Just leg cramps are still bothering me .

@mjb24 my white. Blood cells were always low on the big 3 my specialist told me it was normal whilst in the drugs as long as it wasn’t too low and that’s why they do regular blood tests. But he said normal for people on antibiotics

@kasper1 I've been on the Big 3 for 2 months and started having cramping/spasms in my hands and feet, especially while sleeping, I started taking a tsp or two of powdered magnesium supplement daily, and that spasming is gone. I'm lucky, in that supplementing with magnesium also helps constipation, which I'm prone toward. BTW, I just got my blood lab report and I am trending low on the WBC also...it's right at the bottom line of normal. Everything else is normal.

Do you have any deficiencies nutritionally? Iron, anaemia?
