3mm solid thyroid nodule..what does that mean?

Posted by @strongenough2011 in Cancer, Jul 9, 2013

i have had a nodule on my thyroid for 2 years now. I had an US done in Nov of this past year which showed a 3mm thyroid nodule. I was told to come in for a 6 month check up to "document the stability" of it. I went in last week to have my follow up done. Yesterday I got the results which showed a stable 3 mm solid nodule.

My hormone dr compared my results to the ones in Nov and to one i had 2 years ago....She told me that is going to have to call the radilogist who read my US to confirm that it went from cystic to soild.....

my question is, can u have cancer in a such a small nodule? I have been having some problems with swallowing for a while now and some fast heartbeats every now and then....( i know the thyroid controls a lot of stuff in your body)....

does having a solid nodule mean cancer? She told me that she doesn;t like to see solid, cystic would be fine but soild would mean tumor or mass......

any answers are welcomed!!! i am trying to wrap my head around this situation...

thanks,
