I’ve had about 20 seizures since october and haven’t been able to see a neurologist yet. What do I do in the meantime?
Hi @jesselynn01, and welcome to Connect. If you are comfortable sharing a bit more, it may help members better understand what you are experiencing. Have you been diagnosed with epilepsy? Have you been seen in the past but are concerned about an increase in frequency while you are waiting to see a neurologist? Do you know what type of seizures you are having?
I am curious what kind of seizures you’re having are they Tonic-Clonic or focal seizures or are they absences? Is this series of seizures the first one's you've ever had? Would you mind disclosing your age?
Do you have a Neurologist appointment scheduled?
Has your primary care physician ordered any tests, blood, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imagining)
EEG (Electroencephalogram.) Did your doctor order any Anticonvulsant medication? If so did it help, if not WHY THE HELL NOT!!! if you’re having intractable (uncontrollable) Tonic-Clonic seizures, especially at night they can be dangerous. When did they occur, day or night, at work, home or in public. Also do not take baths (unless someone is with you) it doesn't take long to drown, drownings are more common than you probably think in seizure patients. I'm sure you know not to drive. Not sure where your at so here is a link to the ’State driving laws database,’
Also a MedicAlert (or equivalent) bracelet is a good idea. Here is there website.
Wishing you the best of luck, take care,
HI, @jesselynn01 – I'd also like to welcome you to Mayo Clinic Connect. Glad you are getting connected to @jakedduck1, as he has a lot of personal experience with seizures. Hoping you will also connect with @lynette1975 @cillamac @rtwoody300 @crstyday40 @tcr0315 @dawn_giacabazi, who may have some thoughts on what you can do while awaiting a neurologist consult, with having 20 seizures since Oct. @beth11, who was actually misdiagnosed with a seizure disorder, may also have some insights.
When will you be seen by the neurologist, jesselynn01? When did you have your most recent seizure?
