My son has severe nerve pain from the aftermath of cancer treatment

My son has severe nerve pain from the aftermath of cancer treatment ( radiation and surgery ) in head neck, and shoulder . He has tried everything but no relief. There is never a day when he is pain free, and many days unable to get out of bed . One doctor suggested botox but he had asevere infection in his neck and by the time it was healed the doctor no longer was with the clinic. We are feeling frustrated and need some kind of relief.

Hi @katie56,
I cannot begin to imagine how frustrating this must be. If you would like to consider a visit to Mayo Clinic, please see these contact numbers http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

Is it peripheral neuropathy that your son has?

REPLY

I had peripheral neuropathy as a result of chemotherapy in my hands and feet. I had Calmare treatment (a.k.a. scrambler therapy) for 2 weeks at Mayo Clinic in July 2015 and had over 90% improvement. I know it is offered at many clinics but may not always be covered by insurance. I unfortunately had to pay out of pocket for my treatments but feel it was definitely worth it. It may be worth checking out. Good luck!

The pain is in his head , neck ,and down into his shoulder . He always says it feels like someone is trying to rip off his scalp.
