heavy hitter antibiotics caused horrible yeast infection both orally and vaginally

Posted by diane2444 @diane2444, Mar 19, 2016

Also, I was treated for h pylori with some heavy hitter antibiotics and subsequently got a horrible yeast infection both orally and vaginally. I was treated with Nystatin for the oral infection and Diflucan, various azole suppositories, and am currently trying boric acid suppositories for the vaginal infection. The oral infection cleared up somewhat but is still there. I can't get rid of the vaginal infection. The strain is candida glabrata and apparently is resistant to many treatments. Was anyone able to clear this?

So sorry you are experiencing this. I have no experience with most of it,
but I did have a very bad case of candida albicans years ago. I became very
frustrated with my regular doctor's efforts. A good friend was a
therapeutic massage therapist and vegetarian. She had education in
nutritional therapy as well. The things that she had me try worked when
none of the Rx treatments did. If you can, maybe try going to a
nutritionist for some suggestions. I know that getting your body back in
balance can be quite a struggle.

Hang in there.
Thank you for your response, do you remember what protocol you followed to clear your infection?
Try Monistat 7 for the yeast infection in conjunction with a daily vinegar an oil douche. Start a 24 HR liquid diet followed by an herbal coffee enema and 1/2 cup of yogurt twice per day for 7 days. This will bring you back to normal, if no difference is noticed after 1 week, seek colonic hydro therapy and a 2 week juice diet.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, candida glabrata is resistant to most azole treatments. I have tried several, Monistat being one of the first ones since it is so readily available. Also, as far as the juice cleanse, most anti-candida diets oppose any kind of sugar in the diet, and most juices have a very large amount. Did this protocol work for you? Did you have candida glabrata or the more common candida albicans?
Diane, yes this protocol did work, but you need to do a vegetable juice cleanse
Even though mine was the more common, I also had to eliminate all sugars
from my diet. It has been quite some time and I do not remember exactly,
but I do remember that it was a very restrictive diet. I do remember "No
nuts" because I am vegetarian and I do eat them often.

I hope you find someone who can help you come up with something that works.
I am sure you have already done it, but maybe check to see if there are any
physicians in your area who specialize in "natural" medicine or any very
specialized nutritionists. So often it is difficult to find someone who
really knows both traditional medicine and natural medicine. There seem to
be a number of practitioners who are not particularly reliable, which is
unfortunate.
Did you ever find a cure for this? I have had it about a year now.

I would suggest speaking to the doctor or druggist and getting on the strongest possible probiotic tablets they suggest. This helped my Diabetic husband when he was on heavy duty antibiotics for various medical issues Good luck!
Best wishes
