Hi @plerball21. Welcome to Connect! The LEEP is usually a minimally invasive procedure which hopefully means less postoperative pain, a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery! Sometimes they can even be done on an outpatient basis.

When is your upcoming procedure?

Hi @plerball21! Jumping in again to tag @bcardenas1028 and @moni who have also mentioned similar procedures in the past.

I have to get a leep procedure done. I have precancerous cells on my cervix. I am very nervous for this procedure. Has anyone had a leep procedure done?

Hi, @gemi, and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You may have noticed I moved your post to this existing discussion on Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) so that you can see what others have said about their experience. I'm hoping that @plerball21 will return, as well as @31innyc @chart, and offer any input on having a LEEP and feeling nervous. I'd also like to invite @travelgirl @hopeful33250 @jenniferhunter for any thoughts and support.

When will you have the LEEP, @gemi? Do you have a support person accompanying you?

I am not sure when I will have it yet. I have the consultation on Monday. Yes, my boyfriend will be with me

@gemi I had a LEEP in the 90s. If I recall correctly they did put me under mild sedation. I have no memory of any pain or discomfort after the procedure.
Having had an irregularity I do now continue to have Pap smears yearly. It really is not something to worry about though, and when the results are in, more than likely negative, you will feel relieved that you have nothing to worry about.

It went very well. I feel alot better about doing leep. I am still nervous for it because I have never done it before. The procedure is set up for the 20th.
