Hi @cb91764
I wonder if Bruce (@ch246cf10) might be able to share some of his experiences with you. You can read a bit about Bruce here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/i-am-50-this-year-at-13-i-had-a-coarctation-of/

In the meantime, here's some info on transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/transcatheter-aortic-valve-replacement/basics/definition/prc-20021101

Are you talking about having a transcatheter valve replacement or do you need a stent for coronary artery disease?

Hello,
My Aorta was completely replaced, they didn't stint the aneurysm, they used Dacron tubing. Guess mine was pretty far gone. I was in the hospital for 21 days, but that was mostly due to my chest producing fluid and not being able to release me until the fluid levels tapered down to a level that my body could absorb. So for the entire 21 days I had a drain tube. I think if I didn't have the chest fluid issue, maybe it would have been 7 days in the hospital. Hope this helps.

All the best.

Bruce

@cb91764, I am also facing transcatheter valve replacement (TAVR) and looking for information/comments from someone who has had this procedure or knows someone who has had it. I realize your posting was nearly 1 1/2 years ago but hopefully you can help me with advice or comments. Thank you, Larry B.

I'm in the monitor stage for a valve replacement, and TAVR is the only way I would do it when the time comes. All of my surgeries happed before 40 and I have lived long enough for tremendous scar tissue and lesions to develop in my chest and they are causing problems for me on their own. They new my Aortic Valve was on its way out in 2005 but the recommendation from Dr. Perot at Memorial Herman in Houston was to not rush having my chest opened as insert able (TAVR) was looming technology. Now it is here. I can't offer experience on TAVR, however my experience with chest opening procedures has its drawbacks. I wish I could travel back in time and have my birth defect fixed with a stint. My life would be better today.
